PAINTING FOR PAINTING'S SAKE

Ann Ludlow

Painting for painting sake are abstract paintings inspired by people, that I have encountered in my life. As a naturally empathic person, I have found that others often share with me a magnitude about themselves. I wanted to create a body of work that was an ode to these people, because they trusted me enough to share parts of them with me. I hope the viewer slows down to really look at each of these pieces, because the longer you spend with a piece, the more that you will be able to see.  The viewer is not supposed to be able to tell who each person is, but instead they are meant to just be looked at, and spend time with each piece.

ARTIST BIO

Ann is an abstract painter, and a photographer, originally born in Bristol, Pennsylvania, and was raised in Powdersville, South Carolina. Ann started studying art at a young age and went on to study art at Furman University. This is where her painting and photography skills really developed. Annie has always been interested in the collision of subjects, so often her art is either about loved ones or science. She will be continuing her education at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she will pursue a doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy. There she is hoping to combine her love of art and of science in a very practical way to help others. She would like to thank all her professors and the staff at Furman University for their patience and kindness, and her family and friends as well for all their support.
